Introducing Stripe Payments for ONEcount
Recurring Billing • Revenue Recognition • Financial Exports
ONEcount now integrates with Stripe, bringing PCI-compliant payment processing, automated recurring billing, and built-in revenue recognition to every publisher on the platform.
Secure Payment Processing with Stripe
ONEcount now uses Stripe Elements for all payment collection. Credit card data is captured directly by Stripe and never touches ONEcount servers, reducing your PCI compliance scope to SAQ A-EP — the lightest level available for a web application.
- Admin phone-order entry — your circulation staff can process payments on behalf of subscribers directly from the ONEcount admin, using the same secure Stripe card form
- Tokenized storage — ONEcount stores only Stripe payment method tokens, never raw card numbers
- Refund processing — issue full or partial refunds from within ONEcount, synced instantly to Stripe
Automated Recurring Billing
Paid subscriptions can now auto-renew through Stripe with no manual intervention required. ONEcount manages the subscription lifecycle entirely through Stripe’s webhook events:
- Automatic renewal — when Stripe successfully charges a subscriber, ONEcount extends their subscription immediately
- Failed-payment handling — if a charge fails, the subscriber’s status moves to credit suspends, preserving their record while billing is resolved
- Cancellation — when a subscription ends in Stripe, ONEcount transitions the subscriber to expire suspends
- Configurable dunning — set a grace period (in days) per publication before a failed payment triggers suspension
All billing behavior is configured per publication, with options for time-based or issue-based billing models and a toggle for whether new paid subscriptions default to auto-renew.
No code changes needed on your end. Recurring billing is configured entirely through the ONEcount admin. Your existing subscriber data, source codes, and subscription workflows remain unchanged.
Built-In Revenue Recognition
ONEcount now computes earned and deferred revenue automatically, so your finance team doesn’t have to maintain spreadsheets or wait for month-end calculations. The platform supports two recognition models:
- Time-based (straight-line) — subscription revenue is recognized evenly over the subscription period, prorated by day
- Issue-based — revenue is recognized per issue delivered, ideal for print publications with irregular frequencies
Revenue schedules are computed nightly and stored alongside the subscriber’s payment history, giving you a complete picture of recognized vs. deferred revenue at any point in time.
GL Account Mapping
Map each financial event type — payments received, refunds, earned revenue, deferred revenue, and bad-debt write-offs — to your chart of accounts. These GL codes appear in every exported journal entry file, so your accounting system can ingest them without manual reclassification.

Scheduled Financial Exports
ONEcount can now deliver GL-mapped journal entry files to your ERP on a recurring schedule. Set the frequency, date range, file format, and delivery method — and let it run.
- Formats — CSV or JSON, compatible with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, and other accounting platforms
- Delivery — local file download, or automatic delivery via SFTP to your ERP’s inbound directory
- Scheduling — daily, weekly, or monthly, with configurable day-of-month and time-of-day
- Notifications — email your controller or finance team when each export completes
What This Means for Publishers
With this integration, the manual steps between “subscriber pays” and “revenue hits the general ledger” are eliminated. The full chain is automated:
Stripe charge → webhook → subscription renewal → revenue recognition → GL export
No spreadsheets. No month-end reconciliation scramble. No PCI headaches. Your circulation team manages subscriptions in ONEcount; your finance team gets clean journal entries in their ERP.
