A new ONEcount feature, ClearView, allows media companies to decide whether ad-blockers will be allowed while visiting their sites.
ClearView also lets media brands offer a premium “site membership” option to visitors who are willing to register or pay for access as an alternative to viewing ads.
ClearView will go live next week when it is rolled out to all ONEcount customers.
“Advertising pays for most of the media we consume. If the ads aren’t there, the media won’t be there. It’s critical that media companies be given a choice in how their sites are being consumed”, said ONEcount Vice President of Technology, Sean Fulton. “People who blame publishers and advertisers for the rise of ad blockers are missing the point.”
Beginning next week, when a web visitor using an ad blocker visits a ONEcount customer site, they will face onecof three scenarios. The ONEcount site owner can choose:
- Ignore the blocker and allow the user to access the sites
- Require the user register on the site or subscribe to a “site membership”
- Redirect the user to a page explaining that the site requires ad blockers be disabled in order to view its content
In short, ONEcount customers will safeguard their advertising revenue streams and avoid the business disruption that ad blockers present.
